It’s In the Blood – Siblings in the UFC

There have been several notable sibling combinations to fight for the UFC.  The Nogueiras, Diaz, Hughes, Shamrocks, Lauzons, Millers, Serras, Alcantaras, Villeforts are the sibling UFC veterans.  Other sibling combinations have come close.  Rashad Evan’s brother had a chance on the Ultimate Fighter, but never made it into the house.  Clay Guida’s brother Jason couldn’t make weight for his Ultimate Fighter fight.  WEC veteran Chase Beebe’s brother Carson also lost during the TUF elimination round.  The first father/son tandem will be made official in a few weeks when Randy Couture’s son Ryan makes his UFC debut against Ross Pearson.  So the question is, could there be more sibling combination?  I guarantee it.  But who?

Sergio Pettis – 6-0 – Sergio claims he will be in the UFC in 2013.  He has a big fight coming up on March 22nd.  His future is at flyweight and he would be a great add for the UFC 125 lb. division.

Chidi Njokuani – 9-3 –  The brother of current UFC fighter, Anthony Njokuani has a great chance to make it to the UFC.  He is on a four fight win streak that he will look to extend on March 22nd.  I can’t imagine he is far from a UFC offer.

Joe Ellenberger – 14-1 –  Joe would already be in the UFC were it not for his rare blood disorder.  He still could get a chance.  The brother of welterweight contender, Jake Ellenberger has a solid resume of his own.

Steve Swanson 9-0 – The undefeated bantamweight and brother of UFC fighter Cub Swanson is impressive himself.  I would love to see him on TUF 18.  Keep an eye out.

Freddy Assuncao – 7-1 – He has two brothers who are UFC veterans; Junior and Raphael.  He could be the third.  He has some hype behind him too.

Jared Rosholt – 5-1 – Jared’s brother Jake made a few UFC appearances and with a few more wins Jared could be the second Rosholt to fight in the octagon.

Francinaldo Trinaldo – 2-0 – The brother of UFC fighter Francisco Trinaldo may be a guy the UFC would look at down the road.  He needs some experience and some wins first.

Brian Camozzi – 1-0

Guilherme Sarafian – 4-0

What other UFC fighters have up and coming siblings?

Could we ever see a brother/sister or husband/wife combination in the UFC?

Others: Brad McDonald (Michael McDonald), Igor or Gregor Gracie (Rolles Gracie), Andreas Spang (Chris Spang).

Note:  Guys like the Pitbull Brothers (Patricio and Patricky) and the Lima brothers (Doug and Dhiego) all are UFC caliber guys, but 3 of the 4 of them are locked in Bellator deals so a UFC move is highly unlikely.
