Puetz is the former M-1 light heavyweight champion.  The German fighter began martial arts training as young child with judo. He has dabbled in both boxing and kickboxing before really settling in with MMA. At 6’6″ Puetz is very tall for a light heavyweight, and that height and large frame can be a huge advantage for him in his career.    His knees are very solid and his hands seem to be decent as well.  He makes use of his low kick quite well.  One thing seems to be that he hasn’t learned to use his size and reach to his advantage yet.  His takedown defense is average.  He has shown a  good sprawl, but he has also shown times where he lets guys tie him up and take him down too easily.  When he is able to let lose he looks to be really good.  He really has done some of his best work from the top position.  He is strong and big.  That combination alone makes him dangerous.  He has a career victory over UFC heavyweight Marcin Tybura, Viktor Nemkov,  and middleweight prospect Valery Myasnikov.  Puetz is still fighting under the M-1 Global banner, and I expect that he could stay there for the time being.  I also would not be too surprised to see him make a run at one of the big international promotions when his contract with M-1 is complete. Puetz is scheduled to fight October 21st in M-1.
